This sensation can be pretty uncomfortable, and dealing with the aftermath can be quite a pain. Cannabis hangovers aren’t often discussed, but they are a real phenomenon. If you’ve ever woken up after a night of consumption with the worst cottonmouth of your life and a fatigue that won’t quit, you know this firsthand. But what exactly causes a weed hangover? A marijuana hangover occurs when an abundance of THC enters the brain and causes residual effects. Basically, it’s the result of THC still lingering in your system the morning after heavy consumption. A classic sign of a marijuana hangover is the inability to focus and the general feeling of being dazed. Residual THC in the brain may be making your thoughts cloudy.

Fatigue

It’s well known that cannabis consumption can make you sleepy, but this effect can even carry over into the next day. If you’re hungover, you may be feeling extra exhausted both physically and mentally.

Nausea

Drinking water can help lessen the uncomfortable symptoms of a weed hangover such as cottonmouth, headaches, and nausea. Staying hydrated is important when consuming cannabis, since being high can increase your heart rate, raise body temperature, and lead to dehydration.

Rest

If you wake up with a terrible weed hangover and you’re feeling super tired, the best thing you can do is go back to sleep if you can. Sometimes all your body needs is more rest. Close the blinds, fluff your pillow, and get comfy. When you wake up again, you should be feeling better. Even if you can’t fall back to sleep, just lying down and closing your eyes for a while can be helpful.

A wake and bake session can lift the spirits, as well as alleviate symptoms such as pain and nausea. It may seem crazy and counterintuitive, but it really works. Just a little dose of fresh THC will help rejuvenate your system.
