How to Roll a Backwood Blunt Like a Pro

What is a backwood blunt and how do you roll them? These unique blunts use an all-natural wrap, and are a great way to enhance any smoke session.

A lot of stoners have a preferred way to smoke, whether it be from a pipe, bong, joint, or vaporizer. Nonetheless, it can still start feeling stale smoking the same way all the time. Smoking a backwood blunt may be the fresh experience needed to liven up your session. So what is a backwood blunt and how do you roll one?

What are Backwoods?

Backwoods are blunts that are rolled using an all-natural tobacco leaf. These wraps are a lot more fragile than other blunts wraps on the market, like Swisher Sweets.

Backwoods blunt wraps come in numerous tasty flavors such as honey, black n’ sweet, wild rum, honey bourbon, grape, and more. They can even come in different sizes depending on the brand. You may have heard about these types of blunts before in songs like Mistah F.A.B.’s iPhones & Backwoods.

What You Need to Roll a Backwood Blunt

  • Marijuana
  • Grinder
  • Backwoods cigar
  • Lighter
  • Rolling tray or piece of paper

How to Roll a Backwood Blunt

Step One: Unroll your backwood cigar gently

First, set up your rolling tray or piece of paper. This will give you a surface to work on and will stop your weed from spilling everywhere. After that, you can begin to unravel the backwoods cigar.

To unwrap the backwood as cleanly as possible, start by finding the edge of the leaf with your finger. Follow this edge to the very tip of the cigar. Once you’ve followed it to tip of the cigar, continue by carefully peeling the leaf away. Licking the outside can help the tobacco leaf unwrap and peel easier. Dump out the tobacco that you find inside the cigar.

Step Two: Moisten the inside

Since backwoods rolling paper is dry and fragile, you’ll need to moisten it to prevent it from breaking. You can do this by licking the wrap directly, or by licking your fingers and gently running them along the inside of the wrap.

Step Three: Grind your weed and fill the wrap

Backwoods pair nicely with any sativa, indica, or hybrid strain. Grab your favorite weed and start grinding it up or breaking it apart. Backwood blunts can hold a decent amount of ground cannabis, so feel free to use a good portion of your weed. You can fit up to two grams inside depending on the size of the wrap.

Once the weed is ground, start gently placing it inside the backwoods blunt wrap. The weed should remain loosely packed, and not become too compressed.

Step Four: Roll it up

Now that the blunt wrap is filled with your favorite bud, it’s time to roll it up. Start by holding the wrap together with your index fingers. Then, use your thumbs to tuck and roll one side under the other.

Roll gently, and not too tightly. Be careful not to tear your wrap paper, especially if your blunt is packed generously. Roll the backwoods blunt over your rolling tray to catch any falling weed.

Step Five: Seal it tight

Once your backwood blunt is shaped and rolled, you’ll need to seal it shut. Lick the part you tucked into itself to form a seal. Then, lick any excess pieces of leaf and press them down around the blunt. Once it’s sealed, give it a little time to dry. If you just can’t wait, you can use a lighter to seal it quickly.

Step Six: Light up!

You’re done! Now it’s time to admire your beautiful backwoods creation. More importantly, now it’s time to smoke it. Spark it up and enjoy your backwood blunt.

Are backwood blunts right for you?

Smoking a backwood blunt is a unique experience that will lead to a satisfying high. Backwoods are probably one of the trickier blunts to roll, so don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t get it right the first time. If you practice enough times, it becomes muscle memory. Before you know it, you’ll be rolling backwoods like a pro.
